Furry Family Members (A Blog for Lambeau)

As the month of July begins, which happens to be my birthday month, I can’t help but to think about our furry family member, our beloved cane corso, Lambeau passing on the last day of June. My heart breaks as I witnessed him trying to be strong up until his last breath. For anyone who is a dog/animal lover you know that the unconditional love a family pet gives is simply priceless. The understanding that we will leave this earthly realm at some point is factual, however one can never fully prepare for the departure, be it a blood relative or our furry family friends. We would like to think that our beloved fur babies will always run to the door waiting excitedly the moment they hear the car engine turn off or the keys rattle in the door. However, they age the same way we do and unfortunately, succumb to the same health challenges we face.

The love and loyalty our fur babies provide is unexplainable as they know when to give extra love on our saddest and most challenging days; and when to celebrate with us on our very best days. The gift our beloved pets provide is that they don’t change or judge us as people frequently do, they simply love us no matter what. When I think about the joy that all of our dogs have given us over the years, the ones of present and past, I am so thankful they made my family’s life and mine so much better. It has been said that…”Where there is deep grief, there was great love.” If grief is predicated on our capacity to give and receive love then I know without any doubt Lambeau was greatly loved. The pain is real but the laughter and love Lambeau bestowed upon our family will forever bring sweet memories of joy to our hearts. If you have a furry family member, I encourage you to hug them a little tighter and tell them you love them because you never know when they may take their last breath. Thank you, Lambeau, simply thank you for loving us so well. You will forever remain in our hearts!

Until the Next Blog,

Blessings & Love!
